How to read the RSI
The RSI is read in three steps.
1. Identify the regime
Check whether the RSI is trending (stuck at one extreme) or oscillating (moving cleanly between bounds). The interpretation changes between the two.
2. Look for extremes
Readings near the upper and lower bounds of the 0–100 range are the highest-signal events. Single prints are noise. Sustained readings are signal.
3. Check for divergence
If price makes a new high and the RSI does not, the move is exhausted. If price makes a new low and the RSI does not, the move is exhausted.
